Dancing the Night Away!

This is the third year for the Ingalls High School Dance Team! This year we have 12 members on the team. Every girl has done a lot of work. Not only coming to camp and practices, but practicing at home to perfect the dances that they are going to perform. The girls on the team are seniors Juliana Wall and Kiley Whipple. Juniors are Trinity Denton and Kadee Shaffer; sophomores Abby Lightner, Sydney Minet, Josie Molinar, and Kellee Odneal; and the freshmen are Nayeli Andazola, Brooke Bailey, Tessa Irsik, and Kami Whipple. These girls have an amazing coach in Toni Minet. I asked Coach Minet what she was most looking forward to this season and she replied with, “ I am excited to have the girls perform a special routine on 9/11. I was very pregnant with Hailey on 9/11/2001, I will always remember that day, and having the opportunity for my dancers to perform a special routine to pay tribute will make that night very memorable.”

Kiley stated, “Dance inspires me to encourage anyone with the passion for dance to go for it! I never saw myself as a dancer but I had enough support along the way to get where I am now! The adrenaline that comes from dancing under the lights is hard to compare to anything else.” All the girls play a big role in making each time they dance something different. Over the past three years, Coach Minet has coached these girls with a lot of passion and every single girl on the dance team has loved being a part of the team.

These girls have learned a variety of dances to showcase each person who comes out to support the bulldogs. I had the privilege to interview all the girls on the dance team. The favorite dances for the team are hip-hop, the country dances, and kick lines. Each of these dances has a very different style. Irsik said, “My favorite style of dance is hip-hop. I love the groove with the big motions. It's fun and sassy.”
