Ingalls USD 477

District Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services

PART I.

Describe how the district will maintain the health and safety of students, educators, and other staff and the extent to which it has adopted policies, and a description of any such policies, on each of the following safety recommendations established by the CDC:

  1. Universal and correct wearing of masks is strongly recommended.

  1. All classrooms, offices, and conference rooms have been arranged to accommodate social distancing.  To make this a reality 4,000 square feet of instructional space was reclaimed (PreK and Kindergarten were relocated to these areas), four storage areas were converted into offices, and two closets were converted to staff restrooms.

  1. Additional handwashing stations have been installed in the earl childhood center, the elementary and the middle school/high school.  All students wash their hands at an assigned time every hour of the school day.

  1. All high touch areas are cleaned after each passing period, and all desks are cleaned before each passing period.  Wash stations and restrooms are cleaned every hour.  All classrooms are deep cleaned daily.  All HVAC systems have been upgraded[WU1]  to improve ventilation, and iWave R technology has been installed.  This technology uses needle-point ion generators to actively treat the air.  This technology reduces allergens, smoke, odor, airborne particles, and kills mold, bacteria and viruses.

  1. Contact tracing in combination with isolation and quarantine, in collaboration with the State and Gray county health department is prioritized.

  1. All students/staff are greeted each morning and screened for symptoms.  All students/staff have their temperature checked before they enter buses or buildings.  All guests are screened for symptoms and their temperature is checked before they enter facilities.

  1. Gray County Health Department has provided vaccinations for all staff on the USD 477 campus.  Gray County will provide vaccinations for those interested during the 2021-22 school year.

  1. Students with disabilities have been accommodated to ensure their physical, mental, social, and academic needs are being met.

  1. USD 477 is involved in a continual communication process with State and County health officials.

Part II.

Describe how the district will ensure continuity of services, including but not limited to:

    1. USD 477 added eleven staff development days to our calendar.  These days were added to ensure staff members receive the necessary training to ensure academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of students are being met.  Staff development days will also include implementation planning/collaboration, and student assistance team planning.  USD 477 has adopted a new data dashboard that will make data more readily available to all stakeholders, increase individualization of instruction, and ensure students are being given the support needed to continually improve.  Extended school day opportunities, Monday school opportunities, and summer school opportunities will be provided as needed to ensure student success.  All students are progress monitored three times annually, and tier III students are progress monitored weekly.  All students are mentored weekly, have an individual plan of study, and have supported self-directed learning daily.

    1. To ensure students' and staff social, emotional, mental health needs are met Ingalls USD 477 has added an additional full-time social worker.  USD 477 has also collaborated with Compass Mental Health to have additional social/emotional counseling one day per week.  Full-day staff development opportunities twice per month will be used to train staff and provide needed individual support.

    1. Food service schedules have been modified to ensure social distancing is possible during breakfast and lunch.  Hand washing is required before meals are served, and all surface areas are cleaned after each user leaves the cafeteria area.  All students are segmented in grade level groups while eating and physically distanced.
