Hidden is the tenth book in a twelve book series. In this series a teenage girl is marked to be a vampire and her life is forever changed. This is a fictional story that takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In this story vampires and humans live in peace. In this particular book, Neferet's secret is out and the Vampyre High Council has shunned her and she is no longer known as a high priestess of Nyx. Thanatos is given the position as the new High Priestess in the Tulsa House of Night. After a mysterious fire breaks out in the stables, Labonia (the horse mistress), and Travis (her helper) work together to get all of the horses out of the stables.
Although no one is killed, Travis is badly burned and has to go to the ER, but not before Labonia kisses him in front of the whole school. After the fire is put out, the whole school works together to clean up the stables. When Zoey and her group of friends get back to the school they tell everyone that Dragon, (the school sword master), was killed in a tragic accident involving a bison. When Dragon's funeral pyre is lit, Aurox, (a creature created by darkness to serve Neferet), comes back to the school and decides to pay his respects to Dragon (Aurox was forced to kill Dragon). When Aurox leaves, Zoey is informed that her grandma has been kidnapped by Neferet.
Zoey and her friends work together with Aurox to rescue her grandma by casting a circle around the hotel. After the circle is cast Aurox goes into the hotel room to free grandma and throws her off the balcony where Kalona (winged immortal that protects the school) will catch her. When Neferet finds out what is going on she commands darkness to cause Aurox pain so the beast inside of him will be released but Aurox uses the power of the circle that is cast to keep the beast at bay.
