Mrs. Lightener

This is the start of Mrs. Lightener’s 11th year teaching, and her 1st year teaching at Ingalls. She began her teaching career in Garden City at Jennie Wilson Elementary as a Kindergarten teacher. She is so thankful to be teaching Kindergarten at Ingalls. She also feels very lucky to get to teach in the same school that her children attend. Her two daughters are both in middle school, Alexa is an 8th grader, and Abby is a 6th grader. Her son, Lane is in 4th grade this year. They live in the country north of Pierceville and enjoy spending time outside and tending to all their animals.

Kindergarten will be very busy this year. Several outside guests are coming in to share their time with the Kinders. Johnetta Hebrlee from the Finney County Historical Society will be a guest in the classroom every 6 weeks. She will teach them all about Ingalls and what it was like in the olden days. They will also have a pioneer day and make homemade butter. Their first fieldtrip will be to Pumpkin Paradise where they will get to go through a corn maze, pick pumpkins, and go on a hayride!  For Thanksgiving the Kindergarten class will present a short Thanksgiving play before they enjoy their feast together. These are just a few of the wonderful things happening in Kindergarten. It is going to be a great year!
