Band and Choir

Bulldog Band

The 7-12 Bulldog Band has had an awesome start to the school year. Our numbers are up this year which has been very encouraging and motivating for the whole group. We have 49 students participating this year! our opining performance was at the first home football game on September 11. We performed a very simple show but a quality one. On Wednesday, September 16, the band traveled to the Kansas State Fair and marched in the annual Marching Band Competition. The band worked extremely hard to prepare for this event. Starting school a week later in August meant the band had 5 less rehearsals than usual to prepare. The band received II+, II+, I- ratings from the judges, scoring in the top third of 74 bands. There are still four more home football games on the schedule for this year, so come on out on a Friday night, support our Ingalls Football Team and also enjoy the Ingalls Bulldog Band at half-time!

6th Band

Wow! I am so excited about this group.  There are 22 students in the 6th grade and this class has already proven that they are an extremely musically talented group. I was so happy to see every single 6th grade student walk into my band room for class on the first day of school. These kids are going to be a great addition to the 7-12 band next year. We are going to spend this year working our tails off, preparing for the next step.

5th Band

Fifth grade is the year that band begins for Ingalls students. We began the year with a very important band orientation process. All 20 5th graders were included in this process. We studied the different instruments, we took two different music skills tests, we visited the 7-12 Bulldog Band, we tried out all the different instruments represented in the band. Next, the 5th graders had to begin making some choices; Do I want to be in band? What instrument do I want to play? What instrument will I be good at playing? Am I willing to make the commitment required to do what it takes to learn an instrument and be a part of the band? We just finished this orientation process on Monday, September 14. I am please to say that EVERY 5th grade student has chosen to be a part of the band program at Ingalls. Monday night, Sept. 14, was the annual 5th grade band night. Parents came and purchased horns and supplies and met with Mrs. Meador to make plans and get questions answered. This week we are working on getting everyone an instrument, book, and the needed supplies. the plan is to start making "NOISE" on Tuesday September 22. And yes I do mean NOISE!!

M.S. Choir

The M.S. Choir is working on songs for our upcoming Fall Concert in October and the SFTL Choir Clinic that we will be hosting in November. We are also currently having tryouts for the M.S. Select Ensemble and for Southwest District Honor Choir.

H.S. Choir

The H.S. Choir is already sounding very nice. We have a quality, balanced group with numbers that support our decision to sing four-part music again this year. We are currently having tryouts for our select ensembles; Girls Ensemble and Chamber Singers. We are also learning music for our Concert scheduled for late October.

Elementary Music

Ingalls Elementary Music classes have had a fun beginning to the school year with rhythm study. Beginning with beat verses no beat for the little ones all the way to counting out more difficult rhythms involving 6/8 & 2/2 time for upper grades and everything in between. Elementary music time is a very enjoyable part of the day for the Meadors and their students. It is a time for listening to music, moving to music, learning to read music, learning about composers and performers, studying various time periods of music and styles of music and of course lots & lots of singing!
