Mr. Thurlow

September 04, 2007

Mr. Thurlow

This is Mr. Roger Thurlow's second year to teach and coach girls basketball at Ingalls High!  He is a big fan of sports, Seinfeld, and rock bands.  His favorite band is Pearl Jam.  Mr. Thurlow stated that he grew up in a small town like ours in Northwest Kansas called Bogue, and graduated from Palco High School.  In high school he played football, basketball, and ran track.  After high school he attended Fort Hays State University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in history with emphasis in Secondary Education.  He decided to teach history because he had some great history teachers in the past that influenced him to try to become a quality teacher.  Some of his hobbies are playing basketball and watching movies.  A few of his favorite movies are Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and Legends of the Fall.  He also enjoys reading. His favorite books are To Kill A Mockingbird, Flowers for Algernon and Ishmael.  Mr. Thurlow decided to join us “Because it reminded me of where I grew up."  He also added, “Ingalls is a very nice town. The people here are friendly, and the students are pretty cool too.”  Mr. Thurlow is our junior high football coach.  He is also coaching the high school girl’s basketball team.  His previous coaching experience was at Victoria High School, where he student taught and assisted with girl’s basketball.
