Breakfast and Lunch Programs

July 17, 2007

Nutrition is a vital part of a child’s success in education, thus our district strives to provide meals that will benefit everyone and be kept at a reasonable rate.  Even with the shortfall of school financing on our State’s part, our School Board has maintained the same school lunch and breakfast fees for this year!

The cost for lunch for grades 4-yr-old-academy thru 4th grade will be $1.50; Grades 5 thru 12: $1.70; and Adults: $2.00.  The breakfast program price is a minimal $.90 for everyone.

Parents may occasionally eat with their student. Please call the school office prior so that you may be included in the count.

Milk break for grades Academy thru 2 will cost $.25. ALL students who drink milk must pay for this including those on free or reduced lunches.

The Breakfast Program will start the first day of school. Town students will be served at 7:35 am and the bus riders will be served as soon as they arrive.  Please do not wait until the last minute to come eat breakfast and then arrive late to your first hour class.  This will not be excused unless there were extenuating circumstances.  Plenty of time is allowed for everyone to make it to class on time!

Remember, student and adults who eat a healthy breakfast perform better throughout the day. Start your day right and for only $.90!

Payment of lunches:  MEALS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE. Our lunch accounting system allows you to purchase meals in any quantity necessary. EACH student has his own account, and as he/she proceeds through the line, the breakfast, lunch, or milk is automatically deducted from that balance. A complete history of meal participation and balance of the account may be requested by the parents at any time.

School policy states that after 5 meals behind on payment, a student could be refused a meal. The student knows well in advance that the balance is running low, and is given notification of the fact.  Parents are notified through notes given to student and occasionally calls home.

If you do not qualify for free or reduced lunches and are having difficulty with the payments, arrangements to clear the matter can be arranged by contacting the Superintendent.

Free or reduced lunches:  Please read the enclosed forms to see if your family qualifies for this program.  If you qualify, fill out the forms and present it on enrollment for consideration .
