Principal--Mr. Johnson

July 17, 2007

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Ingalls Community.  I am Steve Johnson, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to be your High School and Junior High Principal.  I have heard nothing but positive things about the staff and students at the Ingalls Schools. I am really looking forward to being a part of something great.

I have been in education for 33 years, and all have been in Southwest Kansas schools.  I attended a small Kansas high school, so I know the quality of education that small schools can provide students.  Academics are very important, but there is so much more we can and should do in school beyond the 3 R’s.

I have a very supportive wife, Vicki, who is employed as an office supervisor with Irsik and Doll Feed Yard.  We have a daughter, Marci, working as an R.N. in Wichita; a son, Marcus (wife Sara), in the U.S. Army, and two young grandchildren that have really kept me busy the past three weeks after their return from a two-year stay in Germany.

We have an awesome responsibility as educators to prepare our students for their future as responsible and productive citizens in a changing world.  Our students will always be our main focus in all we do.  I am looking forward to getting to know the faculty and staff at Ingalls because they are truly the ones that will make it happen.  Most importantly, I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of the students.

We have a great thing going here in Ingalls…Let’s keep that up and make it even better throughout this next school year.
